Manning asked for a list of books, which his family bought for him and will be delivered over the next few weeks to coincide with his birthday and Christmas.

on my american dream..

in the film jenny dream of france.. loves french music art and film.. i always aspire to travel the 50 states.. to be photographed with abraham lincoln.. i guess all of us.. wild and young always thought the grass is greener on the other side.. this film insinuates that such dreams can be nightmares.. i personally hate western food.. i cant give up my hokkien mee and laksa.. i am very glad globalization has allowed me to live my american dream here without the snow of course.. i spent my money on bob dylan music.. spent my time on american history books.. spent my life on american shows from bill maher to entourage.. today i not quite sure if i will say yes to a free ticket to san francisco..



on education..

i strongly believe i may take a lifetime to discover what it means by education.. the film challenges our elitist mindsets which lack rationality and moral values.. why do we go to school and why are professors teaching.. this life is dichotomized by structure and randomness.. does my university education has a grand scheme of plan.. i near the end of it and i am not quite sure what kind of student this institute hopes to mould me into..



i strongly recommend this film.. not long at all.. won 2 awards at sundance.. sundance feature the best indie films and it is actually on miotv..

all votin is a sort of game.. like checkers or backgammon with a slight moral tinge to it.. a playin with right and wrong with moral questions.. i cast my vote.. perhaps as i think right.. but i am not vitally concerned that the right should prevail.. i am willing to leave it to the majority.. however votin for the right is doin nothing for it.. it is only expressing to men feebly my desire that it should prevail.. a wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance.. nor wish it to prevail through the majority.. there is but little virtue in the action of masses of men..

two interestin movies from taiwan which proved that it was possible to strike a balance between artistic and mainstream.. both movies have unique narration and extraordinary cinematography..






these two films unexpectedly stole my heart.. it is time to say no to the 3d rubbish in cinema.. and i should book the next flight to taipei as soon as possible..

how do they sting us..

usin their tentacles which look like vermicelli.. they sting their prey and pull them up to their mouth.. they can have a few tentacles or as many as 800.. every tentacle has a stinging cell located at the end..

who is the largest in the world..

lion's mane jellyfish.. the largest recorded specimen found near cape cod in 1870 is longer than a blue whale..

wat do they eat..

apart from plankton.. fish eggs.. small crustaceans.. they feed on each other..

where can you find them..

they dominate punggol jetty now.. they also like tanjong beach at sentosa whenever there is beachfiesta..

why are they important..

one of my favourite dish is 海蜇..

wall street.. made in 1987 based on 1985..

i must confess i still do not understand how the stock market work.. it did not matter.. michael douglas oscar winnin performance was worth it.. this must be a classic.. a sequel will arrive in september after more than twenty years.. it better not disappoint..



the legend of baggar vance.. made in 2000 based on 1930s..

its the aftermath of the great depression.. after watchin similar films like seabiscuit and cinderella men.. i always have this preconception of true stories being more inspirin.. baggar vance was a fantasy but so much more engagin and motivatin.. this show changed my opinion of golf.. i may head down to the course some day..

i love hats.. like those in public enemies and road to perdition.. seriously franklin delano roosevelt killed that fashion..

in order to prepare for my ps2254 amercian government and politics final exams.. i watched two very american movies.. i strongly recommend anyone who crave for some thought provokin moments and original humour to go rent these two dvds..



mad hot ballroom.. 2005..

a documentary on ballroom dancin being introduced as a programme in elementary schools in new york city.. this film touches the heart as it artistically expresses hope and reinforces the positive values in life.. it also affirms the belief of my deprived and unchallenged college education in nus..



youth in revolt.. 2009..

it is about a guy tryin to transform himself in order to win the heart of his dream girl.. it is just sad that this rare hilarious genre can only be found in two cinemas.. i cant really conclude what is the overall theme.. but it is just amazin and there is certainly something special in it for everyone.. michael cera is too charmin.. after juno superbad nick and norah infinite playlist.. i am certainly goin to watch paper heart..
